I recently reconnected with a classmate from Kent Roosevelt High School as we both attended the Wick Poetry Center for a viewing of Ken Gessfords’ photography. There was a showing of Kens photos of the Wick Poetry Center from the original location, the moving of the building and images of it as it stands finished in its location on Franklin St. on the south side of the Esplanade. Ken was both my and Michael’s art teacher at Roosevelt. Ken has been photographing the Kent State University campus and the downtown Kent area for 50 years and is donating his huge collection of photos to the University. We got reacquainted last year and have been doing some street shooting in the Kent area. That evening I was also reunited with Michael’s wife and fellow Kent Roosevelt alum Lisa, and Julia Walker Wyson who was in my class and was visiting from Los Angeles.
Mike and I quickly realized that we had good reason to work together as he specializes in graphic arts, art direction and web design, and is a fellow “creative”. We met on the following Friday over lunch to discuss life and work. As a result Mike will be taking over the design of my Wonderly Photographic site, and combining it with my SmugMug gallery. I’m excited to have Mike working on this, and here is a link to his company, J. Michael Myers Design.
While the site is developed, I can be reached at 330.353.9280 or via email at hugh@WonderlyPhotographic.com for quotes or booking shoots.
